Heather Akers, MSW, LMSW

Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in Social Work. She is a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) and a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist by The EMDR Institute founded by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D.

Heather works extensively with clients experiencing various traumas, including, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), military sexual assault and harassment, childhood emotional neglect, and abandonment issues. Additionally, Heather treats anxiety, depression, and addiction.  

Sessions with Heather are influenced by person-centered theory. This approach allows you and her to seek out, claim and practice what works best for you.

Heather’s passion is to help others conquer issues from their past as well as manage current struggles. Whether to be a listening ear or to assist you in refining your habits and developing coping skills, Heather would be honored to be a part of your healing process.

Costs:

Individual Session: $130
EMDR (60 minutes): $130
EMDR (90 minutes): $200
Drug and Alcohol Assessment: $200
Heather is considered out-of-network with insurance.

Hours of Availability:

Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
